Columbia Composite Squadron
Columbia Composite Squadron (CCS) is one of the Civil Air Patrol Oregon Wing's largest and most active squadrons. Typically, the 70+ members of Columbia Composite meet weekly at the Portland Air National Guard Base, although the squadron is currently meeting virtually to ensure the safety of our members. As a composite squadron, CCS has both youth and adult members.
Cadet engagement is high. In 2019, CCS:
> Cadet Competition team placed 1st in state, 1st in region and 12th in the national competition
> CyberPatriot team placed 3rd in the Silver Tier of the state competition
> Cadets attended national flight academies
> Cadets attended search and rescue academies
> Cadets flew in 16 Orientation Rides
> Cadets served in leadership roles in Wing Encampments and cadet training programs
As a part learning to lead, cadets gave back to the community by:
> Serving at Camp Rosenbaum
> Volunteering at the Portland Police Shred and Perscription Drug Turn-In event
> Delivering holiday meals in partnership with the Portland Police Sunshine Division
> Honoring veterans by marching in the Veterans Day Parade
